RALLYING GAINESVILLE & NORTHERN FLORIDA TO HELP ARK OF HOPE FOR CHILDREN WIN BIG ON JUNE 14TH

Twitter-based Fundraising Contest Called “Twive and Receive”

Will Award $30,000 to Deserving Charities

Times are tough for Ark of Hope for Children which mentors child abuse, sex trafficked and bullying victims online internationally.

They also aim to build safe harbor homes for child sex trafficking victims. With decreasing funding, and an increasing demand for services, resources are stretched thin. Ark of Hope’s resolve to aid abuse survivors has never faltered even with co-founder life threatening complications from surgery in September 2009. The national need for online assistance has increased greatly and Ark of Hope has strived to meet the need even though funding has suffered greatly.

To help generate donations, and possibly win thousands of additional dollars in awards, on June 14th, Ark of Hope will be competing in Twive and Receive (www.TwiveAndReceive.org) (pronounced like “Give and Receive), a massive one-day Twitter-based fundraising contest to support nonprofits in different cities across the U.S. Twive and Receive was created by Razoo, a social fundraising platform for individuals and nonprofits.

In cities across the country, bloggers and other social media influencers have each picked one local cause to support. These champions are now rallying their followers on Twitter, Facebook, and their blogs to donate as much as possible to their chosen local charity on June 14th in the hopes of securing an additional cash award.

At 12AM Pacific Time (3:00 AM Eastern Time) on June 14th, the fundraising competition begins. The top three charities that raise the most will get a share of the $30,000 prize money.

  • 1st place: $15,000
  • 2nd place: $10,000
  • 3rd place: $5,000

For Gainesville, North Florida and Georgia, Blair Corbett (@AbusedKids) and Jimmy Elliott (@JimmyElliott) are leading the charge to help Ark of Hope for Children. Jimmy Elliott’s “Holding of Wrist” and Ark of Hope will be working together with three other organizations on a collaborative anti-bullying effort called “Hope Not Hype” beginning in the fall of 2012.
